Debate 4: Fiscal Policy

Avatar: Official debate Official debate

Should Maryland hold cryptocurrency as a reserve asset? What regulations and amendments do you want to add to the current bill?

Hint: recall from the previous debate how its gains or losses could affect the state’s ability to fund your district’s environmental, energy, or transportation priorities and what needs to be in place to cope with those impacts.

If you haven't, create an account to participate in these debates. When you create an account, do NOT put your real name. Use the name code that is assigned to you by the professor, i.e. Chair of the Assembly. Failing to use the assigned name codes will lead to a zero for your Debate grade.

To earn credit for this debate, complete BOTH parts:

1. Original post: 9-10 sentences

  • Answer the debate question from your assigned district’s perspective, using relevant economic concept(s). A post that discusses Maryland generally WITHOUT analysis of your assigned district will NOT receive full credit

  • Connect your analysis to your assigned portfolio: Environment, Energy, or Transportation.

2. Response to another delegate (either within or outside of your assigned district): 5-6 sentences

  • Acknowledge their point of view

  • Discuss respectfully and focus on economic reasoning. You can add evidence, present a counterargument, suggest an amendment, or ask a substantive question
